چکیده
Abstract There is a growing interest in making stimuli-responsive polymer systems, particularly ones that are bio-inspired/biomimetic and could perform mechanical work. Here, biological device made from gelatin described can mechanically cycle back forth response to solution pH ionic strength (IS) changes. The bilayer has one layer of Type A the other B gelatin, which have two different isoelectric points therefore ionization states at given pH. cycles when swells more than layer, occurs because or IS change. Maximum bending 10, significantly layer. results show ability use unique properties sources design simple purely machine.

متن کاملActivation of bacterial channel MscL in mechanically stimulated droplet interface bilayers
MscL, a stretch-activated channel, saves bacteria experiencing hypo-osmotic shocks from lysis. Its high conductance and controllable activation makes it a strong candidate to serve as a transducer in stimuli-responsive biomolecular materials. Droplet interface bilayers (DIBs), flexible insulating scaffolds for such materials, can be used as a new platform for incorporation and activation of Msc...
متن کاملPreparation and characterization of gelatin from collagen biomass obtained through a pH-shifting process of mechanically separated turkey meat.
Gelatins were extracted from mechanically separated turkey meat following 2 different approaches. The first method was based on a 2-stage batch extraction at 50 and 60°C, respectively, whereas the second method consisted of recovering gelatin from a collagen biomass obtained during a pH-shifting process. The yield of gelatin produced by the latter method was twice that obtained by the former me...
متن کاملGelatin Phantom
For determining the absorbed dose of ionizing radiation is tissues, it is essential to have materials which behave like tissues. These kinds of materials are usually called phantom. Up to now many different compounds like water, rubber, Perspex etc have been used. Unfortunately, the practical use of each of them has had its own problems. Our suggested gelatin phantom is very similar to soft...

Employing photodestructible surfactants in gelatin-based aqueous gels presents novel possibilities for controlling colloidal and aggregation properties of surfactant gelatin complexes. Light-triggered breakdown of the gelatin-bound photosurfactant aggregates causes dramatic changes in viscosity and aggregation.
